Who Should Have Access to the Spices Board of India – CRES?

Anyone who exports the 52 specified spices and cardamom must get the Spice Board’s Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES), whether they are a manufacturer or a retailer.

Eligibility Criteria for Spice Board Registration

The Spices Board of India has established eligibility criteria for spice exporters and manufacturers to register with them. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The exporter or manufacturer must be a registered entity under the Companies Act, 1956, or the Partnership Act of 1932
  • The exporter or manufacturer must have a valid Import-Export (IE) Code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade
  • The exporter or manufacturer must have a minimum turnover of ₹2.5 lakhs for the previous financial year
  • The exporter or manufacturer must have a permanent place of business and adequate storage facilities for spices
  • The exporter or manufacturer must have the necessary infrastructure, technical know-how, and quality control systems to ensure the production of high-quality spices
  • The exporter or manufacturer must comply with the food safety and quality standards prescribed by the Spices Board
  • The exporter or manufacturer must agree to follow the guidelines and procedures prescribed by the Spices Board for the export or manufacture of spices.

How to Apply for a Spice Board Certificate? – Spice board login

The first step in applying for a masala board registration Certificate is to register online at the government website. Initially, finish the Spice board login. This requires information like your IEC, mobile number, and email address. Applicants would be directed to fill out an online application after having their mobile number and email ID-verified.

Uploading Documents

After completing the masala/spice board login, applicants must complete all of the required fields. Penalty for Violation of Spice Board Certificate

Blacklisting: In some cases, the spice board may blacklist the exporter, preventing them from exporting spices from India in the future

Legal action: The spice board may take legal action against the exporter for violating the regulations.

CRES Validity Time Period

The Board may from time to time announce block periods of ‘three years’ during which the certificate of registration as an exporter will be given. The block year in use is ‘2017 to 2020’. The spice board certificate has to be renewed at the end of each block year.

Final Submission & Certificate Issuance of Spice Board Certificate

Within 10 days of completing the spices board registration online application, all documents included on the document checklist must be sent to the relevant regional office of the board.

Exporter’s Compliance After Receiving Masala Board CRES Certificate

After getting the CRES certificate it is mandatory to comply with the following rules and regulations

  • Make sure to submit quarterly returns on Form B . If you fail it could result in a fine of up to ₹500

  • The certificate is revoked if no exports are carried out within the block year
