BIS Certification

BIS Certification- An Overview

The BIS is an Indian national standard body established by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016. It was created to facilitate the establishment of product standardization, marking, and quality certification, as well as incidental or related issues.

Having a BIS mark on your product or service assures that you are supplying secure and trustworthy items of high quality, lowering consumer health risks. It also encourages import and export alternatives, reducing variety proliferation. As a result, indirectly BIS initiates traceable and noticeable advantages to the national economy.

The main objective of the BIS is as follows:

  • Growth of standardization, quality certification, and marking that is continuous and harmonious
  • Seamless creation of a national strategy for standard recognition and synchronization with the growth of exports and products
  • To guarantee a fresh approach to quality assurance and standardization.

What Is FMCS Registration?

A foreign manufacturer is awarded a license under FMCS to use a standard mark on a product if it complies with an Indian Standard. Certification of the standards may be required or optional. For products produced in a manufacturing facility and meeting all applicable Indian standard requirements, a BIS license to use or apply the standard mark is awarded (s). The Foreign Manufacturers Certification Department (FMCD) at BIS Headquarters in New Delhi is responsible for issuing the license.
